With a record number of over 720 exhibitors, Euroguss 2026, the leading trade fair for the European casting industry, set new standards in January. Companies from all over Europe and the world presented their latest products and developments at the largest Euroguss to date. The trade fair, which takes place every two years, once again confirmed its importance as a central meeting point for companies, customers, suppliers and partners in the industry.
Handtmann was once again on site with its Light Metal Casting division and set pioneering standards: With the newly developed aluminum wheel, the company is setting a milestone in the automotive industry. Handtmann has further developed casting processes within the die casting process that enable the production of complete aluminum wheels for the first time. The new light performance wheels weigh 20 - 30 percent less than conventional low-pressure die-cast wheels. The 360° solution provider is thus tapping into a market segment previously unattainable in die casting. Car and wheel manufacturers, fleet operators and end customers benefit from a better CO2-balance improved driving dynamics and greater design freedom. The range of battery-electric vehicles is also noticeably increased. The new aluminum wheels celebrated their premiere at this year's Euroguss in Nuremberg and will be ready for series production in the course of 2026.
The wheel blank will be cast in series using the die casting process at Handtmann. The post-casting processes, such as machining, painting and all quality assurance processes, will take place at partner company Cevher Group. The Cevher Group has decades of experience in the wheel industry.
Both partners have aligned the complete process chain to the requirements of the automotive industry. "By introducing this technology, we are opening up the automotive wheel segment to high pressure die casting for the first time and, at the same time, laying the foundation to transfer this process to other components in the future. This allows us to set new standards in both the light metal and automotive industries," says Dirk Seckler, Co-CEO of Handtmann Light Metal Casting.
